It’s a funny old world we live in! One day I wake up and there is snow on the mountains around me and the next its 35 degrees and it feels like the polar caps are melting away.
Well De Noordhoek Hotel is also on roads of change and we need to tell you about that! So here we go.
My name is Dougie Boyes. I am 100% South African and 200% Capetonian. At the start of April 2012 myself and Willem Botha, the man who had the early vision, and Colin White, the man who has been at the helm for the last 4 years, agreed on a new chapter for De Noordhoek Hotel. This involves me teaming up with the existing duo as a business partner as well as the person in charge of running and directing the new business vision.
So you get it, our beautiful hotel is having a facelift! Not a knock down and re image but a reality check and a change of tune, perhaps a tune she always wanted to sing but somehow got lost in the busyness of what Noordhoek and the Noordhoek Farm Village have become.
So De Noordhoek Lifestyle Hotel is evolving, we are doing things quickly but carefully. We want the change to be fresh yet also in keeping with what this beautiful building is and represents.
Brands and business’ have grown around us, as have family and friends. Cafe Roux has become the place of choice for Cape Town gatherings and The Toad is almost written into Cape Town folklore. Cape Point Vineyards has international status and Franck Dangeroux’s Foodbarn gets accolade after accolade. Best of all the new population of Noordhoek gets friendlier every day. And this has all happened in the last couple of years.
The horses aren’t gone, neither are the bicycles or surf boards. There are just more of them. The cock still crows at 6 in the morning and I could swear I saw the milk man riding up the road this morning! People who live here have chosen to because of what Noordhoek offers and the Noordhoek Farm Village has become a massively important meeting place for all of Noordhoek.
It’s hard to compare the lifestyle here to many other places in our country. Its not a hideaway, but it is also not the city, yet it is in the city. Neighbours are friends and business’ are companions. Utopia, we like to think so!
Noordhoek is a remarkable destination in Cape Town and with beauty abound why not? We are bang in the middle of it with our playground a myriad of Cape Town’s best. Our staff are friendly, our rooms spacious and extremely comfortable and our beds are without doubt the most comfortable you will find away from home. Our winter rates of less than R500 a person, bed and breakfast, are more than fair and the offering exceptional. Have a look around our website www.denoordhoek.co.za and see for yourself what you could be enjoying, and that’s before I have told you about the delicacies of our new in house restaurant, Village Sushi.
We have made our hotel tech friendly, so bring your gadgets and unwind. It helps us remain Cape Town experts and with advise that comes with passion, there is no better or safer place to lay your head in this city than at De Noordhoek Lifestyle Hotel. Now that you have met me I look forward to meeting you. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have anything postive to contribute, I value opinions and best of all making new friends.
Yours Sincerely
Dougie Boyes and the whole team at De Noordhoek Lifestyle Hotel
